On Wednesday and Thursday, the Lawyers' Foreclosure Intervention Network will hold its next training for attorneys interested in providing pro bono assistance to homeowners in danger of foreclosure.
A joint effort by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the City Bar Justice Center, the project enables lawyers to represent homeowners in mandatory settlement conferences, apply for loan modifications, and defend parties in foreclosure litigation. Volunteers also can help to minimize damage to the credit of individuals whose homes cannot be rescued.
In exchange for 12.5 free CLE credits, attorneys must attend both days of training and represent at least one client pro bono from the Justice Center.
Both sessions, which start at 8:30 a.m., will be held at the City Bar at 42 W. 44th St. For more information, contact the project's coordinator, Benjamin Seibel, at bseibel@nycbar.org.
